![]() BIOGRAPHY: Aaron Hedges has done a lot with his love of music. With both inspiration and motivation, he said good-bye to his friends and family in Washington, DC in 2004 and made the 5000-mile move to Berlin. With his laptop, music, and purpose in mind; Aaron knew that is where he had to be if he wanted things to happen. The road has been one of 'do-it-yourself' for Aaron. After sending out his first E.P. to numerous different labels, he took the punk rock / hands on approach to make his dreams a reality. Starting his own label, District of Corruption, Aaron found success with his first single 'Watching Me'. Jambi's remix of Aaron's title track found its way onto Detroit techno legend, Jeff Mills', mix cd / dvd "Exhibitionist" and Aaron knew he was on the right path. Now with a full schedule of releases set for 2006, DoC is poised to push new limits and boundaries by working with some of today's best and well respected techno and house artists. DoC features releases from Dan Curtin, Isometric, Jambi, Mirweis Sangin, and Aaron himself. Recent DoC releases have had dj support from the who's who of the techno world: Richie Hawtin, Riccardo Villalobos, Michael Mayer, Tobi Neumann,Troy Pierce, Benno Blome, Jeremy P. Caulfield, M.A.N.D.Y., & Anja Schneider. Aaron was exposed to dance music at a very young age. His parents met in a gay disco that was a converted church in Seattle. From the youngest age he remembers dancing around the house to his father's disco records. But the musical influences did not stop there. Aaron was saturated with music since his father was an audio/visual librarian. Aaron's taste acquired at a tender age and he even could unofficially claim to be the buyer for the Pierce Country library around the age of 12. Aaron started attending the George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1996. It was only one week of class until he dropped the introduction class to his major in International Affairs and started taking electronic music classes. Highly inspired by his electronic music instructor, Steve Hilmy, Aaron pursued classical music training in piano, ear training, music theory, and harmony. During his 8 years in Washington DC Aaron held residencies in such clubs as Red, Pearl, Cobalt, and made guest appearances at numerous parties such as Buzz and Velvet. Now Aaron has already traveled the world over to bring his music taste and dj skills. Such destinations include cultural centers as New York, Paris, Berlin, and Capetown, And that is just the beginning of the story...... Hip-hop, along with new wave, electro, and other sonic innovations of the Eighties began to loom large in his life, and it was only a matter of time before Curtin began experimenting with music creation himself. When he finally heard the futuristic sounds of house and techno, everything changed. Drawing influence from star-gazing evenings with a telescope and late night drives through Cleveland, Ohio, music production became Curtin's primary focus. Cleveland, a city not known as a hub for electronic music creation, was initially isolating. However, Curtin was able to observe the more prominent scenes of other cities without becoming part of or identified with any one of them. He began designing a new sound in techno and house music. Curtin's first few records were released on Detroit's now defunct 33 RPM Records and Belgium's Buzz Records. Shortly thereafter, he started his own label, Metamorphic Recordings. Dancers and listeners alike began to take notice of his innovative sound signature, and before long Dan Curtin found himself being hailed as a key player in techno and house music. With his profile on the rise, he eventually caught the attention of labels diverse as New York's legendary Strictly Rhythm, England's Peacefrog and Japan's Sublime Records, as well as Chicago house imprints Moody and Afterhours. The new century gave Curtin the opportunity to focus more on the house music side of the business with many productions under his Purveyors of Fine Funk and Key of Soul monikers on labels such as Diaspora Recordings and Nepenta. With 70 singles and 8 full-length albums under his belt, Curtin's career is in full swing and storming forward. Between his globe-trotting to DJ gigs and running Metamorphic Recordings, he stays extremely busy, but never too busy to make time for the studio. Despite his hectic schedule, Curtin continues to push boundaries with forward thinking music production as his utmost priority. Relocation in late 2003 to electronic music¹s European epicenter, Berlin, has energized Curtin with the rich vitality generated by so many artists and producers working together in one city. This move has triggered a string of new releases in a more dance floor oriented direction on renowned labels Tuning Spork, Klang Elektronik, and Soma. With his past and present accounted for, the sole question remains: where can we expect to find Dan Curtin in the future? Keep your attention focused ahead of the current trends in music and that's where he'll be. Their common interest in technology and computers drove them together with one goal to create the music that they loved. Kristofer, at the time the only one with a traditional musical background in both popular and classical music, took on the role guiding the other two into the world of musical theory and technology. At the same time, Fredrikís background as a local DJ and promoter heavily influenced the working climate within the group. On the other hand, Torbjornís wide musical influences and background in small avant-garde bands also helped shaping the developing sound of Anagram. However, Anagram's music wasnít discovered until early 1999 when they were featured in Swedish national radio-show ìP3 Musikjournalen Dansî. The exploitation led to the first record-deal with Swedish independent label Clear Blu and their first twelve-inch ìHigh Coast EPî was released in the fall of 1999. In the same year, Anagram performed live at various venues throughout Sweden and moved their base of operation to Uppsala, near Stockholm. In the following year, Anagram kept a low profile and released tracks on UCMG UKís Millennium Jazz 4 compilation and at the US-label Water music records. In 2001, Anagram signed a deal with ELP Medien und Verlag Gmbh in Frankfurt, Germany. During the following period of time Anagram released various twelve-inches and their debut-album "Across the Spectrum". However, the first twelve-inch on Marco Carola's label Zenit was released under the psuedonym Isometric; a new musical approach was born that were more electronic and techno-oriented. At the first possible moment he moved to London. After two years of bad weather and many great experiences Jambi found himself in Sunny San Diego California. Until this point Jambi's involvement with music has been secondary. Jambi worked in one of London's most notorious second hand record store while taking breaks to tour (as a roadie and tour manager) with Israelï¿?s noise band Plastik Venus, and London's Headcleaner. In San Diego, with access to his university's radio station Jambi started broadcasting as a radio DJ and soon had his own show that was later called Double Decks. Jambi was turned onto techno after hearing Luke Slater's 'Freeq Funk' album that had many aspects that were close to Jambi's teenage love, Industrial music. With that an interest in pursuing further directions in techno ensued. In 1999, Jambi found himself on the move again and this time to the east coast of the United States. There he started producing. Meeting fellow techno aficionados online, Jambi quickly formulated Washington DC's first techno crew: Metrotechno. The crew staged various disastrous raves and played for most promoters in the region. In 2002 Jambi joined forces with another Washington area crew and started a monthly party called Sleaze that fused live electronic music and DJs and brought to the former techno desertb such acts as DJ Traxx, Valentino Kanzyani, Justin Robertson, John Selway, Ulysses and more. This was also the time when Jambi met Aaron Hedges, the man behind the techno label District of Corruption. Hedges asked Jambi for a remix based on work he heard at Jambiï¿?s small home studio and before both of them realized what was happening an email arrived from none other than Jeff Mills asking for a license for his Exhibitionist mix CD. In 2003 Jambi decided to move back to Europe and by some unplanned coincidence found himself in Berlin. The city lives and breathes music and soon Jambi met another fellow former east coast resident: Jay Haze. The two started working together on the netlabel textone.org and shortly afterwards Haze brought Jambi closer to the other labels he owned and Jambi found himself working for Contexterrior and Tuning Spork. In 2006 Jambi and Jay's new sublabel: Junion will hit the floors. Be afraid. DISCOGRAPHY: DOC 001 - Aaron Hedges - Watching Me E.P.(remix) DOC 002 - Jambi - NoHouse E.P.
